How Do You Honor the Ones Who Stepped Up With Love?
Mother’s Day weekend has a way of touching the heart a little differently.
For some, it’s joyful and full of celebration.
For others, it feels quieter… more reflective… maybe even a little tender in places that are hard to explain.
But one thing I keep coming back to this weekend is gratitude.
Not just for mothers by birth…
But for the women who stepped into our lives and loved us like family anyway.
The women who showed up when they didn’t have to.
The women who prayed for us, encouraged us, listened to us, checked in on us, and quietly walked beside us through some of the hardest seasons of life.
And for me, one of those people has always been my Aunt Connie.
The Ones Who Stay
I think sometimes we forget that some of the greatest acts of love happen quietly.
Not in grand moments.
But in consistency.
In someone simply being there.
God has a way of sending people into our lives right when they’re needed most.
Sometimes they step in to fill a void in us.
Sometimes we fill one in them.
And sometimes, without even realizing it, He’s healing both hearts at the same time.
What a blessing it is to have someone in your life who doesn’t lead with judgment…
But instead offers:
- steady love
- quiet guidance
- patience
- understanding
- and a safe place to land
Those people are rare gifts.
And they leave fingerprints on our hearts that never truly fade.
Aunt Connie has been one of those gifts in my life.
Not because she had to be.
But because she chose to love faithfully.
And honestly, I think many people reading this probably have someone like that too.
Maybe it’s:
- an aunt
- a grandmother
- a mentor
- a neighbor
- a family friend
- a stepmother
- someone from church
- or simply a woman who kept showing up with kindness when it mattered most
Those women deserve to be honored too.
Deeply.

The Quiet Beauty of a Mothering Heart
Motherhood is so much deeper than biology alone.
Sometimes motherhood looks like:
- meals made with love
- prayers whispered quietly over someone
- phone calls just to check in
- encouraging words during difficult seasons
- helping carry burdens no one else sees
And the beautiful thing is…
God sees every bit of it.
Every unseen sacrifice.
Every act of kindness.
Every moment someone chose love over convenience.
None of it is wasted.
Sometimes the women who helped shape us most are the ones who simply stayed through life’s storms and reminded us we didn’t have to walk alone.
🌾 This Week’s Table Challenge
This week, take a moment to intentionally honor someone who has loved you faithfully.
| Day | A Gentle Invitation |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Reach out to someone who helped shape your life |
| Day 2 | Share a meaningful memory with them |
| Day 3 | Pray for the women quietly caring for others |
| Day 4 | Offer encouragement to another woman |
| Day 5 | Sit down for coffee or a simple meal together |
| Day 6 | Reflect on the people God placed in your path |
| Day 7 | Thank God for the ones who stayed |
Love given faithfully changes people more than we realize.
Scripture
“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.”
— Proverbs 31:25–26 (KJV)
How This Scripture Applies to Our Lives
I’ve always loved this verse because it reminds me that kindness matters deeply to God.
Not just the loud, visible things.
But the everyday faithfulness:
- the listening
- the comforting
- the helping
- the guiding
- the staying
There is something deeply holy about people who continue loving others through life’s changing seasons.
And I believe some of the greatest examples of that kind of love are found in women like Aunt Connie.
Women who may not have given us life…
But helped us live it more fully.
Women who stood beside us when we needed someone most.
Women who simply loved well.
Bringing It Back to the Table
Out here, so much of life happens around the table.
Stories are shared there.
Comfort is given there.
Healing often begins there.
And when I think about the people who shaped my life most…
I think about the quiet moments.
Coffee together.
Simple meals.
Long talks.
Laughter during hard seasons.
Sometimes love doesn’t arrive loudly.
Sometimes it shows up gently and stays for years.
And what a beautiful gift that is.
If you’ve been needing more of these quiet moments, we’ve been slowly putting together simple devotionals, journals, and gentle encouragement to help you spend more time with Him in the middle of everyday life.
You can find them in the Quiet Nook.
We’re also continuing to add new journals, devotionals, recipes, homestead encouragement, and seasonal resources regularly, so be sure to keep checking back for new additions throughout the season.
You can always find the newest posts and updates over in the Farmstead Chronicles.
🌿 Stay Rooted Through the Week
If this spoke to your heart and you’d like to continue walking through these quiet moments with us, you’re always welcome here.
Whether you are a mother, missing a mother, grateful for someone who stepped in, or quietly carrying others in your own way…
Please know this:
The love you give matters.
The kindness you offer matters.
And the people who stepped up with love when they didn’t have to…
They matter more than words can fully say.
Final Thoughts
This weekend, I hope we remember to honor not only mothers by birth…
But also the women who became family through love, faithfulness, and simply staying.
For me, that will always include Aunt Connie.
And I suspect many of us carry someone like that in our hearts too.
If someone came to mind while reading this…
Reach out to them.
Tell them what their love meant to you.
Sometimes people never fully realize the difference they made until someone finally says it out loud.
With love,
Promised Land Ranch and Goods 💛
