Sip & Snack Saturday — real kitchens, real food, real life
This week’s Sip & Snack Saturday happened the same way most of them do — with jars on the counter, supper plans in mind, and a seasoning spoon that needed an honest opinion.
We’ve been restocking a few pantry staples around here, and this week it was our Chili Seasoning and Fajita Seasoning. Nothing fancy. Just real mixes we actually cook with and want to feel confident about before moving forward.
Sip & Snack Saturday gives us that space. A chance to taste, adjust if needed, and decide what’s ready to stay — one jar at a time.
Mild, Medium, or Hot — Chili Is Personal
Chili is one of those foods where everyone has an opinion. Some like it mild and cozy, others want a little heat, and some folks go straight for hot.
That’s why I always take my time with seasoning blends. They need to work in real kitchens, not just on paper.
The chili seasoning passed its test — balanced, flavorful, and easy to adjust depending on how you like it.
Tonight’s Taste Test: Chicken Quesadillas
Tonight, we’ll be trying our Fajita Seasoning with chicken to make chicken quesadillas.
First taste tests tell you everything. Sometimes it’s a thumbs up right away. Other times, it needs a small tweak before moving forward. That’s just part of doing things carefully — and the way I prefer to do it.
Why Sip & Snack Saturday Matters
Sip & Snack Saturday isn’t about rushing recipes or pushing things out fast.
It’s about:
-
tasting carefully
-
slowing down
-
building a pantry that actually serves your family
One seasoning. One recipe. One jar at a time.

Today is also SPG and SPGO seasoning day around here.
There’s one customer in particular who’s been waiting patiently for these. He tells me he uses SPG on everything — meats, vegetables, eggs… probably more than he admits.
I’m genuinely looking forward to hearing his thoughts and reviews once he gets his hands on them. Real feedback from real kitchens matters more to me than anything else.
From the Pantry to the Heart
Working through seasonings like this has reminded me that good things take time.
Not everything needs to be fast.
Not everything needs to be perfect on the first try.
And not everything needs to be pushed out before it’s ready.
Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is slow down, taste carefully, and make sure what we’re offering is truly good.
🌾 The Table Challenge (This Week)
This week, take a moment at your own table and ask:
-
Do I rush things that need time?
-
Where could I slow down just a little?
-
What’s one small thing I can do with care instead of speed?
Whether it’s a meal, a recipe, or a daily rhythm — let it be steady. Let it be honest.
That’s where good things grow.
