The Day I Almost Missed God’s Blessing Right in Front of Me | Faith Reflection on Noticing Everyday Miracles

The Day I Almost Missed the Blessing Right in Front of Me

If I’m honest, there are days I move too fast.
Laundry needs folding. Dinner’s burning. Messages piling up. Animals hollering (some louder than others). And my brain? It’s already worrying about tomorrow before today even finishes.

One day not too long ago, I found myself sitting on the porch, coffee in hand, feeling worn thin. I wasn’t really seeing anything—just kind of staring, letting the to-do list chase me around in circles inside my mind.

And then it happened.

A little bird, the tiniest, fluffiest thing you ever saw, landed right on the porch railing not two feet from me. It chirped once — sharp and clear — then tilted its head at me like it was trying to say, “Are you even paying attention?”

I almost missed it.
I almost missed the beauty of a moment God placed right in front of me, just to whisper,

“Slow down, My child. I’m right here.”

Friend, how many times do we miss the blessings because we’re too busy racing to the next thing?

The Lord reminded me that day of something simple yet powerful:

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 (KJV)

Stillness isn’t about doing nothing.
Stillness is about noticing everything He’s already doing.

A Gentle Invitation to You

Can I ask you a gentle question, from one believer to another?

What blessings might God be placing right in front of you today?
Is it the sound of your child’s laughter?
The warm sun on your back?
The unexpected phone call from a friend who just needed to say “I love you”?

Don’t miss them.
They’re not interruptions.
They’re invitations.

A Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the tiny, beautiful reminders You scatter through my days. Forgive me for the times I’ve been too busy, too distracted, too tired to see them. Help me slow down enough to notice Your fingerprints all over my life. Open my eyes to Your blessings — and teach me to treasure them. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Final Blessing

Dear one, may your heart be open, your eyes be clear, and your spirit be tender enough to catch every tiny glimpse of His goodness this week.
You are seen. You are loved. You are surrounded by blessings — even if they come on tiny wings.

P.S. Don’t miss next week’s devotional, where we’ll dive into what to do when life feels like one big whirlwind!
(Hint: God’s still in the middle of that storm too.)

🍽️ This Week’s Table Challenge

Challenge Title:
“A Blessing in Front of Me” Table Challenge

Challenge Instructions:
This week, gather around your table — even if it’s just you and the Lord — and do this one simple thing:

Before you eat, before you talk, before you check your phone…
Take 30 quiet seconds to look around and really see the blessings right in front of you.

  • Maybe it’s the people gathered with you.

  • Maybe it’s the food God provided.

  • Maybe it’s just the breath in your lungs and the peace in your home.

Then, before digging in:
👉 Each person around the table shares one tiny blessing they noticed today — something they might have otherwise missed.
(If you’re alone, write it in a journal or whisper it back to the Lord.)

Extra Step (Optional, but Powerful!):
Say a simple prayer aloud together:
“Lord, thank You for the blessings we usually rush past. Open our eyes and soften our hearts to see You more clearly every day. Amen.”

🪑 Why It Matters:

Because seeing God’s blessings before we fill our plates fills our hearts first.
And when gratitude sits at the head of the table — miracles feel a lot more visible.
