What a Morning in Our Bakery Really Looks Like | Sourdough, Bagels, Pretzels, Cookies & Homemade Mixes

🌾 What a Morning in Our Bakery Really Looks Like

There’s something about the quiet of early morning that feels different out here.

Before the world starts moving…
Before the noise, the notifications, the to-do lists…

There’s a stillness that settles in.

And that’s where our bakery mornings begin.

Not rushed.
Not loud.
Just steady, faithful work.

By the time most folks are just waking up, we’ve already been in the kitchen—hands in dough, ovens warming, and the smell of fresh bread wrapping itself around everything like a promise.

This isn’t just baking.

This is rhythm.
This is provision.
This is calling.

🌅 The Start Before Sunrise

Most mornings begin in the dark.

Coffee first—always.

Then straight into the kitchen.

The sourdough has been working overnight, slow and steady, just like it was meant to. There’s something deeply comforting about that… knowing that even while we were resting, something was still growing.

We begin shaping loaves—boules and sandwich loaves—each one handled with care, each one just a little different than the last.

No shortcuts.
No rushing.
Just hands, dough, and time.

🥖 Bread First, Always

Sourdough is one of the things we’ve come to love working with in our kitchen.

Those golden crusts…
That soft, airy inside…
That slight tang that only comes from patience…

It never gets old.

We bake:

  • Rustic sourdough boules
  • Soft sandwich loaves
  • Rotating seasonal and flavored varieties

Every loaf carries the story of time and intention.

It’s not fast.
It’s not factory-made.
It’s real.

And people can taste that.

It’s just one piece of what comes out of these early mornings.

🥯 Bagels, Pretzels & The Rhythm of the Kitchen

The Rhythm of the Kitchen

Once the bread is underway, the kitchen begins to come alive.

Bagels are next—and not just one kind.

Everything bagels.
Plain classics.
Garlic and seasoned varieties.
Whatever the week calls for.

Each one rolled by hand, boiled, and baked to that perfect golden finish.

And then… the pretzels.

Jumbo soft pretzels.

Big. Warm. Soft. Perfectly salted.

They don’t last long—and honestly, we understand why.

There’s something about a fresh pretzel that brings people back to simple joy.

🍪 The Sweet Side of the Morning

By now, the kitchen is full.

Flour dust in the air.
Trays moving in and out.
Timers going off.

And right in the middle of it all… cookies.

We bake:

  • Classic chocolate chip cookies
  • Soft and nostalgic half moon cookies
  • Rotating cookie varieties

Cookies have a way of slowing things down.

They’re familiar.
Comforting.
The kind of thing that feels like home the moment you take a bite.

🧂 From Our Kitchen to Yours

Out of all these early mornings came something more.

Not all at once…
But little by little.

Because we know not everyone has the time to do everything from scratch—but that doesn’t mean you have to settle for less.

That’s where Momma Missy’s Mixes came from.

We created simple, clean, flavor-filled mixes that bring a piece of this kitchen into your home.

From seasoned salts to onion soup mixes and more…

Everything is made with intention, small batches, and a whole lot of love. Check our NEW line Now!!! Momma Missy’s Pantry

🌿 It’s More Than What We Bake

People often see the finished products and think that’s the whole story.

But what really matters… happens before all of that.

It’s the early mornings.
The quiet prayers.
The moments where things don’t go as planned—and we keep going anyway.

It’s faith woven into flour and water.

It’s trusting that this work matters… even on the slow days.

🛍️Even While You Rest

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it… it is vain for you to rise up early… for so He giveth His beloved sleep.”
— Psalm 127:1–2 (KJV)

There’s something beautiful about the work we do.

But there’s something even more grounding in remembering…

We are not carrying it alone.

Just like sourdough works quietly overnight…

God is always working beneath the surface.

Even while we rest.
Even when we don’t see it yet.
Even in the ordinary moments.

Bringing It Back to the Table

Out here, we understand rhythm.

There’s a time to work.
A time to tend.
A time to gather.
A time to rest.

And somewhere in the middle of it all…

There’s the table.

The place where the work turns into something shared.

Where early mornings become meals.
Where effort becomes nourishment.
Where simple things become meaningful.

If you’ve been needing more of these quiet moments, we’ve been slowly putting together something you can come back to each day—just a simple devotional and companion journal to sit with Him a little longer.

You can find it in the Quiet Nook.

Lately, we’ve been sharing more of these kitchen moments again—simple recipes, a bit of sourdough, and the everyday pieces of homestead life that don’t always get talked about but mean the most.

You can find us over in the Farmstead Chronicles.

🌿 Stay Rooted Through the Week

If this spoke to your heart and you’d like to keep walking in these quiet moments, you’re always welcome here.

You don’t have to carry everything all at once.

You don’t have to earn a moment of stillness.

You are already invited.

And He is already near.

Final Thoughts

This bakery isn’t just about what we make.

It’s about how we live.

Slower.
More intentional.
Rooted in faith and simple things.

And every morning, before the sun comes up…

We get to begin again.

🌿 If this kind of life speaks to you—
